Co-operators Announcement #2 (1)

Co-operators Supports ASI’s Programming in 2026, Helping Expand Access to Climate Resilience Education

This funding will equip Canadian businesses and housing co-operatives with the ability to identify climate risks and take practical action.

Support from Co-operators will advance two key initiatives:

Climate Resilience for Co-operative Housing: An eLearning course developed with the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada to support their 900+ member organizations to understand how climate change affects buildings, residents, and operations with a focus on maintaining high-quality living conditions as climate pressures grow.

Climate Resilience for SMEs: An eLearning course delivered through Chambers of Commerce, BIAs, and Boards of Trade. It features locally relevant climate change impacts, business case studies, and practical steps for SMEs to build resilience. Learners can deepen their experience through optional add-ons (a workshop, webinar, or coaching session) chosen by the delivering organization to suit their members' needs.

Good Leadership for Good Energy

📅 May 13 | ⏰12 - 1:15 pm ET | 🎟️ Free | 📍Virtual

Most Canadians care about climate change and want to see real progress on the energy transition, but technical solutions alone won’t get us there. What turns good ideas into action? Good leadership.

Join us for a conversation with Alex Lemay, Annabelle Liao, and Megan Bennett as they dig into what good leadership looks like when it comes to powering our lives.

We’ll be talking about keeping energy affordable, why diverse voices need to be at the table, and the programs/initiatives that can help Canadians step into leadership roles within the energy transition.

Soft Skills Are in Demand, But How Do We Evaluate or Certify Them?

A super interesting report from the Future Skills Centre looks at how employer demand for soft skills is rising to complement technical skills.

Despite being widely seen as essential, there's still no consensus on how to evaluate or certify soft skills, making it hard for workers to know when their competencies will be recognized.

On the flip side, the same problem exists for employers making hiring decisions on the basis of skills they do not know how to define or assess.

It’s a big problem we see at ASI when it comes to leading climate action. While technical knowledge is essential for addressing climate challenges, progress often stalls without effective leadership to mobilize climate action.

Elevating Equity for Racialized Women and Non-Binary Climate Action Leaders

Systemic barriers continue to limit opportunities for racialized women and non-binary individuals, making it harder for them to enter and advance their careers in the sustainability sector.

Our report details enablers and barriers that this demographic faces and highlights how leaders, organizations, and the climate action sector can advance equity in climate leadership.
