Last Chance to “Lead it Forward” this Giving Tuesday
Today’s your last chance to “lead it forward,” our playful twist on paying it forward, by making a donation of any amount to support our youth and nonprofit climate leadership programs that we hope to run again next year.
As you reflect on your own journey, we hope you’ll think of those who helped you along the way and consider helping others who are just beginning to see themselves as climate leaders gain access to our programs.
As a thank you, you’ll be entered to win a print (your choice up to $64) from Canadian artist The Creative Traveller, whose work is featured above.
This course helps housing professionals understand how climate change impacts buildings, residents, and operations, and what they can do to anticipate climate impacts, protect housing assets, and strengthen the resilience of communities across BC.
Lots of interesting stats in this report that surveys more than 2,100 C-Suite executives spanning 21 countries and presents how Canada stacks up globally when it comes to corporate sustainability.
A couple interesting nuggets:
Canadian companies (40%) are more likely to make sustainability decisions based on environmental impact vs financial gain.
82% of Canadian organizations say they have embedded sustainability across their business, rather than just making small tweaks or focusing on compliance.
Lack of green talent and skillsets (23%) is the top obstacle for Canadian companies which is considerably higher than the global average (15%).
Different Generations, Similar Challenges: Addressing Climate Change from Youth to Seniors
Climate change is impacting all generations, but how we show up to the challenge and how we care might differ.
At our recent Let’s Talk Leadership event, Abbey Piazza, Bob Willard, and Desiree Maurice explored how different generations think about and respond to sustainability and climate action.
They shared practical insights on connecting with people, from navigating affordability pressures and building trust to having meaningful conversations without even needing to mention the “S” word.
How can we understand each other and work together for our shared future?
Building a Just Climate Transition: Why People Must Be at the Heart of Business Strategy
The Business Leaders’ Guide to a Just Climate Transition from WBCSD and ERM helps executives and boards integrate social considerations into their climate strategies. As we like to say at ASI, solving the climate crisis isn't just about technical solutions, it's also about people!
If you ignore the “people dimension” and only focus on cutting emissions, progress slows and trust evaporates. Ding, ding, ding!
What's inside the guide:
A clear business case: Companies with strong social performance outperform peers by up to 7%, according to the World Benchmarking Alliance.
Leadership roles defined: The guide spells out what boards, CEOs, CFOs, CSOs, and HR leaders each need to do to embed just transition principles into strategy and governance.
